From start-ups to large global companies, executives make strategic decisions, where stakes are high, in complex, uncertain contexts. Beyond analysis, synthesis involves judgment calls. That’s where even seasoned managers miss opportunities or fail to avoid disasters. Come and learn about common pitfalls in exercising judgment and how to develop better team decision processes.

With this module, you will gain the ability to:

  • Familiarize with decision models. Learn what science knows about how our brains make decisions made, the role of analysis, synthesis and emotions.
  • Recognize most common mental biases: review these biases, and real examples of their consequences.
  • Experience the challenges in team decision-making. Interactive exercises will drive home real-life challenges such as time pressure, limited information, uncertain, ambiguous and complex environment, and social dynamics.
  • Organize team decision-making. Understand how to develop better decision processes in team.
  • Know when to organize formal decision-making. Decide when such formal processes are required, and when a healthy culture and organizational structure are sufficient.

Here are some of the questions this module will explore

  • What are common biases in strategic decision making?
  • How to work with data?
  • How do emotions influence decision making?
  • How are team decisions different from individual decisions – and how does this make them more difficult to manage?
  • How to design better decision making processes in teams?

The module will address the stated questions and provide some insights to inspire you.
